Rock climbing is a sport
that children of all ages and athletic ability can enjoy and succeed in.
Island Rock boasts several programs to satisfy all ability levels of children
ages 7-15. In all programs your
child will learn specific skills particular to rock climbing:
- balance
- flexibility
- coordination
- bouldering

- belaying
- rappelling
- knot tying

In addition to the technical
skills of rock climbing, your child will gain fitness, self esteem and
confidence while building life skills:

Climbing Club:
This program is for beginning and intermediate climbers as well as children who are
interested in the social and recreational aspects of climbing.
Monday:
6:30-8:30p.m.
Wednesday: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Friday: 7:00-9:00 p.m.
$160 for 4 consecutive sessions
$400 - 12 sessions
$720 - 24 sessions
Drinks, snacks and gear rental are included.
Additionally, all club members will receive 15% off climbing shoes,
harnesses and chalk bags at our gear shop.
After School Programs:
Our after school program is designed for children in grades 2-5.
This program gears instruction to the needs of younger climbers.
The staff is chosen for their ability to motivate and inspire elementary
aged children. We always maintain a low staff to child ratio to
ensure a quality experience and lots of climbing. The dates of
this program follow the public school calendar.
Monday: 4:00-5:30pm
Wednesday: 4:00-5:30pm
$450 - 13 sessions

Winter Recess Camp:
Come join us at Island Rock
for a week of climbing and climbing related activities.
February 15th-February 19th
9am-3pm
Activities will include
rappelling, ascending ropes (using mechanical devices and friction
knots), mock leading on the lead climbing wall, slacklining, Tyrolean
traverses, yoga, and of course - lots of climbing.
Youth climbers of all ages
and ability levels are welcome. Climbers will be broken up into
age groups and instruction will be modified accordingly.
$300 if registered by

Team Island Rock:
This program is for the climber who has progressed beyond the beginner
stage and is looking for a more competitive atmosphere. Climbers will be
challenged to set personal goals and will receive proper guidance and
encouragement to achieve those goals. Climbers who are interested in local
competitions will be supported through this program.
Wednesay: 6:15-8:30 p.m. and
Friday: 6:45-9:00 p.m.
(Team Island Rock meets twice a week)
Drinks and snacks are included
**In addition to Wednesday and Friday’s team classes, your child will
receive a full membership to Island Rock**

Chris Robson is a New York State certified teacher and coach as well as an
American Bouldering Series certified coach.
Chris began rock climbing while attending college in Colorado. Over the
past decade he has traveled the continent rock climbing, ice climbing, and
mountaineering.
In addition to his experience at Island Rock, Chris worked as an outdoor
rock climbing guide for a teen adventure camp in Boulder, Colorado. Chris
has extensive knowledge in nutrition, training, exercise, and physical
fitness, stemming from his experience as a climber, varsity track and
field coach and an Ironman Triathlete.
